The Value of Persistence

When we talk about entrepreneurship, we look for how successful entrepreneurs do their work. They have a combination of rules which they strictly follow to succeed; that are high motivation, strong focus, persistence and extreme hard work. Behind every successful entrepreneur there are always some hidden untold stories, some setbacks and some barriers on way of their goals which they all cross by through their followed rules. But the major rule that opens the door of their success is Persistence.

Persistence is the process of continuous struggle in any conditions to achieve your goal. It is a quality that keeps on pushing you forward even in times of your failures when there is no other way than quitting. It’s a combination of your will power and your desire. Persistence is a vital key of your success and let you achieve the highest targets in every aspect of life.

When you adopt the mindset of seeing everything with a positive perspective, you find it easier to develop self-persistence. It assists you to overcome the situation in a better way when things happen to go against your way. Persistence doesn’t come when you keep on clinging to your past; but it comes when you visualize your successful and compelling future and you get yourself ready to pay anything for it to happen in real.

Persistence has a vital role in one’s own personal development and self-improvement. You can only go ahead successfully in life when you get failures; you learn from them and move on by not repeating your mistakes. This can only happen with strong determination to keep going on and not looking back and giving up. With any coming failure, your emotions and motivation level may go up and down but your persistence with clear vision of your future will keep you on track when you are down. Pass through your boldest challenge like a steamroller.

You can have a lot of scenarios to explain the value of persistence. Being persistent helps you to remain open for new ideas and opportunities from which you can learn; the opportunity of attracting people towards your purpose, even when it requires changing your route or some features of it. Then your persistence will hold you true to your purpose.

In our daily lives, we see many hard-working, talented and field-expert people who are not succeeding in achieving their goals. And we also see some other people who are just average qualified, not really talented to express them, but still they are successful entrepreneurs. The only thing that differentiates these two types of people is their “persistence”. The unsuccessful people never remained persistent in their work; they turned back when faced with any failure; and changed their route. Whereas the successful people remain persistent in their jobs whatsoever the conditions were, whatever failures they faced, but they never let themselves back-off and continued their hard-work.

Looking deep into the work-theory of successful people in your surroundings, you will find that, apart from persistence, the also have clarity of their vision as well, which assists them in reaching their goals no matter how big the barriers come in their way. Keeping in mind that achieving success is not a destination, but it’s a journey which keeps on going through persistence.

IKEA – INGVAR KAMPRAD, ELMTARYD, AGUNNARYD

Ingvar Feoder Kamprad, owner of IKEA stores which deals with affordable and light-weight furniture all over the world, is a successful businessman today. He was born in a rural house where his father was just an ordinary gardener. They didn’t own enough money; not enough even to fulfill their needs often. Ingvar was a hard-working child with a built-in business mind. At age of 6, he started selling matches, and then at 10 he leveled up to selling of Christmas decors, fish and pencils. At 17, his father gifted him some money in reward of performing well in school. With that amount of money, Ingvar founded IKEA.

In beginning he used milk trucks to deliver his goods; getting them manufactured from local manufacturers. Some years later, those manufacturers boycotted IKEA and protested against his very low prices. Here was the point Ingvar didn’t let him down, remain persistent in his work and finally got in designing in-house furniture items. Now, IKEA is itself a brand of simple, affordable, stylish, modernist and flat-pack furniture that everyone can pay for. In his entire life being an owner of IKEA, Ingvar never borrowed money or issued a stock. This was his story of persistence, despite a lot of barriers and failures, which even today motivates many people to continue their hard work till they reach their goals.

Dale Carnegie said, ” Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”
